In Their Own Words: Four Encounters with Love Beyond Loss

Hi, I’m Elizabeth.

In 2016, I had a dream to pay attention to my dreams. While I had no idea how my life was about to transform, I listened to the call.

I began dreaming about and being visited by loved ones in spirit—my father, my pets, and my very dearest friend…all the time. Even and especially after working in hospice and bereavement, these experiences revealed another path through grief—one deeply aligned with the continuing bonds theory of grief.

A path that does not expect us to “move on” or “let go,” but instead normalizes signs and dreams rather than questioning them. An ever-evolving, creative path of continuity and spiritual connection that gives us agency in how we grieve and can even help soften our pain.

These deeply transformative encounters inspired me to begin my third book and create a social media platform to share this path. With the guidance of Nora Swan-Foster, Diplomate Jungian Analyst and Art Therapist, I also developed Awakening to Eternal Love, Comfort and Connection, a program weaving together art therapy, dreamwork and contemplative practice, supporting others in cultivating an abiding relationship with loved ones in spirit.

Through this process, I learned:

  • That we can nurture a spiritual relationship with those no longer here, sense their presence and experience their love through waking and sleeping dreams
  • That we can say what wasn’t said, heal what wasn’t healed and live in abiding trust that there is absolute, unbroken continuity from this life to the next
  • That the practices I share can provide grief support and a sense of agency during our most devastating moments
  • That millions of people have been having these profoundly comforting experiences without any effort since the beginning of time
  • That art therapy and creativity invites us into unseen realms, where image and process reveal what words cannot
  • That guiding you on this path is the reason I was called.

“What my mind was so blown by, and I think everyone who experienced this program is that you can connect with loved ones on your own – and that is so beautiful!” – Claire B.

Connecting with your loved one in your dreams does not mean you will no longer grieve, be in pain or deeply miss them.

It does mean that you can discover acceptance, hope and trust in something greater that supports you in moving forward with your life.

It is my privilege to guide you on the healing journey of Loss to Love.

Namaste,

Elizabeth Bryan-Jacobs

Threshold: A Soulful Creative Guide to Dreams and Connection with Loved Ones in Spirit

Unbearable loss brings us to a threshold: a moment when we find ourselves standing between the deeply painful world of what was, and the sacred promise of what still can be. From here, another path becomes visible — a path of connection forged in love.
